Guest Engagement Analytics

How Informax handles data

Informax measures how guests use the digital guest-information pages we build. It is designed so that no individual guest can be identified — not by the hotel, not by Informax, and not by anyone who obtained the data.

What we record

  • That a sticker or QR code was used, and which one
  • That a guest-information page was opened
  • Which information sections were opened
  • Which links were followed (menu, booking, phone, directions)
  • Device category, browser and operating system
  • Approximate country
  • Date and time

What we never record

  • Names, email addresses or phone numbers
  • Room numbers or booking references
  • Payment details
  • IP addresses — never written to our database
  • Precise location (no city, postcode or coordinates)
  • Cookies or device fingerprints
  • Anything a guest types into the page

How guests stay anonymous

To count visitors without identifying them, our servers convert the network connection into a one-way code. The original address is discarded immediately and never stored. The code cannot be turned back into a person, and it is rebuilt from scratch every 24 hours, so no picture of any individual guest can build up over time.

The same guest visiting two different Informax hotels produces two unrelated codes. Properties can never be compared at the level of an individual.

Who can see what

Where it is stored, and for how long

Data is held in the United Kingdom. Detailed records are deleted automatically after 25 months. Beyond that we keep only daily totals per property, which contain no identifiers of any kind.

Important

This page describes what our software does. It is not legal advice and is not a claim of compliance with any particular regulation. Hotels should have their own privacy documentation reviewed by a qualified professional. Informax is happy to provide the full technical detail needed for that review — contact info@informax.co.uk.
